Yesterday marked the first day that our son became a man! Just kidding! But he did make another huge and exciting step; he went from Pull Ups to big boy underwear! YAY!!!!
I took the kids on the trip to Target where little Jesse got to pick his first package of briefs. He chose Spider Man and as soon as we got home he was pulling off his Pull Up as fast as possible. We ripped the packaging open together and put his new Spidey's on. He looked so cute in them as he began prancing around the room. Oops, better rephrase that; big Jesse would not like me saying that our son was 'prancing'. Start over: He looked so cute in them as he began running after his toddler size football....WHEW...much better sentence.
Anywho, though I am proud of little Jesse and even more happy about saving the money from buying Pull Ups, I am also just as sad. As a mom I encourage his independence yet hold tight to his reliance on me. I cherish the confidence and trust my kids have in myself and big Jesse and it's difficult to watch them as they liberate themselves from us. Even though it's just Spider Man underwear I can't help but look into the future about the next changes they will embark upon that leads them more and more into growing up and facing the world. Every stage I'm reminded of how rapidly our kids are growing and how vital it is that I value every moment (the here and the now) I am with them, teaching them about the crucial things in life, mainly about how much God loves them and about have fine family morals and high standards for themselves, knowing that through Christ, they can do all things or be anything they (God willing) desires.
