Are we the only family left?

Every year during Thanksgiving in my heart I find it a 'must' to do the natural by going around the turkey table giving thanks for whatever is on one's heart, and each year my family looks at me as if I am a nerd, geek, weirdo, you name it. But isn't that the point? I mean, of course we all say a heartfelt prayer to our Lord above and in unison thank Him for the wonderful blessings we have, but usually this prayer is offered up by the elder man of the room as we all hold hands and listen with agreement to his prayer. Even so, I still think it's appropriate and only right to engage every person the opportunity to say just one thing they are thankful for. I don't care if they say they are thankful for the shoes on their feet as long as they take the time to share a valued and sincere thanks for something. So why is it that when I've brought this up in the past parts (not all) of my family appears shy about the whole idea? To me without this part of sharing it feels there is something truly missing. Are we the only family that still does this I wonder?

1 Love Thoughts:

  1. We do that exact same thing. No one looks are me like a weirdo ( even though I am). I guess that's because we have been doing it for as long as I can remember. We also do it for fun things, movies, amusement parks, vacations any thing really. I think it's a good way to encourage conversation and have every one really think about what they are thankful for, what is special and how lucky we are! Stick with it!!
