Does anybody know of a reputable Christian Pregancy Crisis Center in the Houston Area?

As many of you know my niece, Hope, recently announced that she was pregnant; and not just barely but at least 6 months along. We are the type of family that stick through the high's and low's of life; just accepting life as it is thrown our way. We are not placing judgement but instead are accepting the fact that this is just how things are right now and we embrace the happy side that comes with this; God's blessing with the miracle of new life. So anyway, my niece's mother already filled out the paperwork for Medicaid but they are taking forever verifying all of the information so that my niece can at least get a simply ultrasound taken on her babies health in her womb. My niece is a twin herself, as this is what her mother gave birth to years ago, a set of beautiful healthy girl twins, one is Hope (our now pregnant niece) and her twin sister is Faith. Since Medicaid is taking such a long time to verify all the information I was doing a 'Google' search for 'Christian Pregnancy Crisis Center' in our local area. I did find a few and have left a message for my Sister in Law to call me regarding what I've found. But I'd like to have a few more options than just the 3 I currently have. Of course I am willing to take turns in driving my niece to her appointments; in necessary all of them as my schedule is the most open one in the family. With me just raising 2 kids as a SAHM (Stay at Home Mother) this wouldn't really put me out too much, and even if it did, well it's simply worth making sure my niece has the kind of prenatal care that every expecting mom should have. So my ultimate question; if you live near the Houston/Clear Lake/Friendswood, Texas area and know of a respectable place that helps out with free or low cost ultrasounds to monitor this teen mom's babies, and also of any places you may be familiar with that offers other type of service which help in providing parenting classes and ways to earn or be eligable for free products like a crib, infant car seat, and what not just to get her started, if you know what I mean. If you do know of some places please let me know here by comment or through the 'Contact Us' tab above and we would so very much appreciate your assitance. Even if you aren't aware of my local area but know of a national pregnancy center that helps young mothers out, this would be great as well because they would probably give us leads to other local facilities. God bless you for your help. All of you! Also we have placed a 'Donate' button for 'Hope's Baby' at the top left sidebar. In whatever donation amount you may feel led to give, please do so. Like I stated earlier, we as a family will be doing what we can to help raise this baby but any extra help will greatly be appreciated as this will be a bigger bill than we can handle alone. Especially since most of us already have little one's that we are still raising ourselves. Thank you for anything you can offer, donate, pray over, or simply anything that aids us in helping Hope as she takes on this new challenge of motherhood. So I suppose the old saying is really true; it takes a whole community to raise a family. If you do feel led to donate there is a little option for you to leave a note for Hope if you so desire. We will collect all of these and give them to her either on her Baby Shower (which the date for this has yet to be decided on) or the date that her baby arrives. Again, thank you all for everything. You are truly amazing and supportive online family and friends! God Bless you all!!!! Sarah

  3. Thanks Mimi,

That alone will open a lot of doors to this young mothers unplanned pregnancy. She is already 6 month along but hasn't even been seen by any OBGYN's, which is concerning. She is a twin herself and we have no idea is she is even carrying twins; or what the status is for her infants. I've 'Googled' a lot of places online today but a lot of them have already closed for today. I just don't know what else to do. But you're so right; prayers are definately the first way to go; which our whole family has already been doing.

So thank you very much for your prayer offering. This means so much to me/us. Lots of love to you Mimi!!!

  4. why is medicaid taking so long to verify the information? i would call the caseworker and see if something can be done to expedite it on that end, and not just sonograms but blood work, urinalysis, etc. etc. should be done. my mother was in charge of the medicaid program in our county before she retired a year and a half ago, but i know that there is often special circumstances for pregnant women. also, if the application has been filed, many physicians or clinics work with people who have "medicaid pending" as long as you provide documentation of the process...hope that helps some.

praying for your family in this trying time!

  5. Thanks Jill (Blessed Mom of 8) for your consideration in seeking out your friends who live in Texas for us. We have 'Googled' online and called several places already but are having a hard time getting very far with them. Even so we firmly believe that God will provide and be a great blessing in this event. We know that He already knows this babies name, future, and outlook for it's life; and what a wonderful life this will be! Thanks again Jill; that means a lot to our family!!!

  9. Hi MommaD,

I really don't know all of the details about why Medicaid is taking so long; I think (from what I heard) they are having a hard time verifying their own fathers income; he has been in and out of their lives for a very long time. Other than this I don't know, but I do know the mom (my sister in law) has already tried to call a supervisor in a desperate attempt to get her daughter seen at least for a first ultrasound and prenatal vitamins.

Again, I don't know all the details just about 1/2 of them, but I'm still trying to help out as much as I can with looking for places about where to go. I think I may even put up a donation 'PayPal' link for anyone who may offer to give just $5 for items my niece may need. Of course, we as her family will be helping a lot but she'll need more than we can supply. We just aren't sure of everything to do; but we are all trying our best. Thanks for your input Momma D; I appreciate you sharing in our frustration over all of this; as it has been really disturbing to know that she'll soon be 7 months along and still has not even seen one single doctor since Medicaid is taking so long. I don't see why they can't at least get her in to be seen somewhere while they are still trying to figure out all the quirks to her enrollment in the system....it's very, very frustrating.

  11. Andy's right. Care Net is the most wonderful organization when it comes to crisis pregnancies. They also do post-abortion counseling if you have any family/friends that have been through an abortion and are dealing with healing from the emotional scars from it. I worked for a Care Net center in Eastern North Carolina for a couple of years. Care Net will always have a special place in my heart.

  17. How ironic as Michael is in the process of taking our church's baby bottle to work to collect for our local crisis pregnancy center here in Georgia.

Michael's older unwed daughter actually went to them and "EARNED" A FREE CRIB, DIAPERS, BABY CLOTHES ETC. ETC. All she had to do was bring them a current church bulletin to prove she had been going to church and take some clsses as well. Hopefully that is available there in TX as well.

Just googled for ours here and didn't find it, but you can google free ultrasounds and get info that way...we have LOTS here!

    blessings and prayers,

    marcy

Thank you for coming to my blog because your visit led me back here to your beautiful site.

Early this morning I helped to deliver my first grandchild...pulling a baby form my own "baby" was amazing!

My daughter is not married and the man who has stood by her throughout her unexpected pregnancy is not the father of my grandchild. There was not much joy at the announcement of this pregnancy but God is good...He brings beauty form ashes. And He will do it for Hope too!

May you be blessed as you face this as a family of faith

God isn't surprised by this path. I pray He now uses this experience to bless and change others. He works in mysterious ways.

  21. Hey Sarah! I'm not in Houston but the Arlington Pregnancy Center is a Christian facility. My SS class often collects items to donate to them.

Maybe they could refer you to a Center in your area.

    Here is their website.
